I believe that everything is for a reason, happiness, upset, guilt, proud... most of people when they are happy or let's say "having a good time" tend not to appreciate what they already have --- well, until they loose it, that's why people always comment "that was so shot", "I wanna do that again"; however, when they are unhappy, or upset, depressed, they often blame on other things, either the ways other people treat you, or the existing surrounding environment, or making some irresponsible excuses like:” well, this is my fate, my destiny"...  but rarely, people actually look into themselves, discover that we --- ourselves are the real "God" who "manipulates" all these.

Here some words from Brian William Jennings “Destiny is no matter of chance, it is matter of choice, it is not something to be waited for, it is something to be achieved.”

Everything is about a “Choice” --- from your own, my friend. In your paticular case, if you miss your old friends, call them up, email them or more traditional way --- send a card; i don't care the reason why you have to live in that city along, as long as you made the "choice", you might have to stick with it, and go for it for that ultimate goal, for your desitny no matter it is "torturing or fascinating"; or you can make other choices, i believe you are a grown person, and you can be responsible for yourself.

Like millions of other people, life is full of uncertainty, things are getting more and more unpredictable as it is in the world nowadays, how to still live in the world "happily" --- make a choice on your own, and go for it!!! I suppose.
